Description:

CactusNET is a web application dedicated to cataloging and sharing information about cactus species native to Peru. It enables researchers, botanists, and nature enthusiasts to explore species data, images, and geographical distribution through an interactive and responsive interface.

Role & Contributions:

• Developed Next.js and React components for dynamic pages, species filtering, and image rendering.

• Implemented Node.js backend services for data ingestion, species management, and search optimization.

• Utilized PostgreSQL and Redis for structured data storage and fast caching of frequent queries.

• Integrated AWS Lambda for scheduled data synchronization and content updates.

• Added WebSocket support for real-time updates and collaborative data editing.

• Deployed production infrastructure using AWS RDS and lightweight microservice architecture.

Impact:

Created a modern, data-driven platform that promotes environmental awareness and facilitates the study of Peruvian cactus biodiversity through accessible digital tools.
